Easy Ground Beef Shepherd's Pie Recipe

Six Sisters Recipe. To me, Shepherd’s Pie is the ultimate comfort food - meat and potatoes, topped in melted cheese. It just doesn’t get any better than that.

Ingredients
  • 1 Pound Lean Ground Beef
  • ½ Onion (Chopped)
  • 2 Teaspoons Minced Garlic
  • 3 Tablespoons Whole Wheat Flour
  • 1 Tablespoon Tomato Paste
  • 1 Tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1 Tablespoon Soy Sauce
  • 14.5 Ounces Low Sodium Beef Broth
  • 2 Cups Frozen Mixed Vegetables (Carrots, Peas And Corn)
  • Salt And Pepper (To Taste)
  • 13.75 Ounces Instant Mashed Potatoes
  • 1 Cup Shredded Sharp Cheddar Cheese
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Spray a 9 x 13 inch baking dish with nonstick cooking spray; set aside.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat and add ground beef, onion, and garlic. Sauté until beef is fully cooked. Drain grease.
  4. Add flour and cook for a minute longer.
  5. Stir in tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, soy sauce, and beef broth. Cook for 5 minutes or until sauce begins to thicken.
  6. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the frozen vegetables, salt and pepper.
  7. Pour meat mixture into the bottom of prepared dish.
  8. Prepare potatoes according to package directions. Carefully spread 5 cups prepared mashed potatoes on top of the meat.
  9. Top with shredded sharp cheddar cheese on top.
  10. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and the meat mixture is bubbly.
